Diamond & Pearl is full of new Pokémon, new illustrations, and brand-new game mechanics. With so many great changes, you might almost overlook the introduction of the ultimate Pokémon training versions: Pokémon LV.X!
New Holo Cards!
With the introduction of Pokémon-EX cards in EX Ruby & Sapphire, gameplay has already changed – with Pokémon LV.X, the next change is coming! These Pokémon are placed on top of their pre-evolved form. For example, Empoleon (4/130) becomes Empoleon LV.X (120/130). Empoleon LV.X has all of Empoleon's attacks, plus its own Poké-Power and another attack, giving you even more options and tactics for victory!
New Pokémon! Every expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game includes new attacks. This time, we've gone a step further and are bringing you new attacks from new Pokémon! Infernape (5/130) is a fast, powerful Fire Pokémon that can use quick attacks for just one or two Energy and with no Retreat Cost! Or do you like successful Pokémon like Staraptor (16/130)? Its Braveheart attack adds 100 more damage (though it can also damage itself). Get ready with Speed Dive, which can defend for one turn while attacking the opponent's Pokémon.
New Look! The cards are also more modern, with more space for illustrations, additional Pokédex data, and descriptions of the Pokémon from the video game. Weakness and Resistance now have exact values next to Effect on Pokémon. Now you can not only see how weak this Pokémon is compared to other Pokémon, but also how weak it is!
New Ideas!
Some basic rules have been updated, creating new strategic possibilities! For example, the starting player can now draw a card on their first turn but cannot play any Trainer, Stadium, or Supporter cards that turn. There are now also basic versions of Darkness Energy and Metal Energy, making Darkness decks easier to play. At the same time, some old favorites are back: you can include up to 4 copies of the Unown Pokémon in your deck, with even more power reserves than before.
