Special Pokemon cards and where to find them-An overview

In this series, we would like to introduce you to special Pokemon cards, either because they have left a particularly lasting impression in the collector's world or simply because they have e.g. B. were particularly exclusive and difficult to get. So much in advance: You can definitely look forward to some very interesting articles.

Alola Friends & Pikachu SM-P 400

These two special Pokemon cards were part of the [012758 012758]Limited Collection Master Battle Set[012759, which was released at the end of 2019, i.e. towards the end of the Sun & Moon era.

This box can be compared relatively well with our current special box from Japan, i.e. the Precious Collector Box, as it was also released towards the end of an era. Both boxes are also so-called Made to Order Boxes, i.e. they are only made to order and therefore both are quite limited and therefore extremely rare.

In addition to special Pokemon cards, this box also had special accessories, e.g. such as an exclusive Pokemon card sleeve.

The promo cards from the Limited Collection Master Battle Set are relatively valuable these days, so both go over the counter for several thousand euros.

Folipurba VMAX AA

Lilly SM-P 397, Bromley SM-P 396 & Lola SM-P 395

These 3 special Pokemon cards were part of the Sun & Moon era[012758 012759] and could be drawn from special 012758 so-called Extra Battle Day Packs. These promo packs could be won at special Extra Battle Day tournaments. But in order to be able to participate in such a tournament at all, you had to 1. live in Japan, 2. successfully contest the tournaments, 3. you could only participate in a tournament 1x per month, and 4. you even had to win a lottery before a tournament in order to be allowed to participate in a tournament at all.

So the requirements to get these 3 cards were really more than difficult, so that very few Japanese received copies of the cards at all.

But there was another problem: The packs could be screened, so you could simply keep the card you wanted and sell the other cards. You have to know that especially the Lilly card was incredibly popular and was the top card of the 3. It was sold for over $1000 back then and is now barely affordable. The other 2 weren't bad either, but still far less popular and therefore cheaper.

Piepi SM-P 381

This Japanese promo card also dates back to the Sun & Moon era.

The card shows a beep with the popular trainer Lilly. It was issued in the course of the release of the Japanese set Dream League in Japan as an additional promo card in various Pokemon centers, it is quite popular and quite valuable. You can currently buy them for around 100-200€.

Mask Royale

Eevee SM-P 371

This Japanese promo card was from the Sun & Moon cycle and was issued from 05.07.2019 as part of the so-called Pokemon Card friendly Shop campaign in participating Japanese Pokemon stores, if you shopped there for 900 yen. Nowadays this card goes away for around 50€.

Glurak V AA

Mewtwo GX SM-P 364 & Mewtwo GX SM-P 363

These two special Pokemon cards were issued in the course of various Pre Release Tournaments from the Japanese set Remix Bout in Japan.

You could get the full art version of the map by reaching the Knockout Phase, while for the Rainbow Rare version you had to win a tournament. However, only 300 copies of the Rainbow Rare version were made, which makes the map even rarer.

Both cards are extremely difficult to find today and have also become extremely expensive. They both cost several thousand euros.

Mauzi SM-P 375, Flamiau SM-P 374 & Endivie SM-P 373

These 3 Japanese promo cards were issued at the beginning of July 2019 as part of the so-called Pokemon Card Station Events.

For example, there was the Kangaskhan Tag Battle, a tournament in a 2 vs. 2 format, the Sylveon Girls Battle, where only female participants were allowed, and finally the Weekday Tournament, a format with 4 or more participants. All 3 cards could be won at these tournaments and all 3 are now relatively rare and cost around €100. However, the Mauzi is the top card, because it has already achieved a price of ca. 200€.

Conclusion

So, that was Part 2 of the series: "Special Pokemon Cards and Where to Find Them".

In the first part, we have now discussed a selection of special promo cards from the X&Y and Sun & Moon era. Well, in the 2nd part we went into special Japanese Pokemon cards from 2019. This is mainly due to the fact that the vast majority of special Pokemon cards were produced and published exclusively in Japan. So all of them have never received an international equivalent, so they are only more exclusive and interesting. In any case, they all enrich the individual collection, but unfortunately they are sometimes extremely expensive, so they are difficult to reach. Nevertheless, it is mega interesting to take a closer look at these special Pokemon cards. We are therefore already preparing a third part, as we would like to present you more special Pokemon cards. Be curious!

Your opinion is important to us

But what do you think about the special Pokémon cards presented? Did you already know them all or was it completely new territory? What do you think of this series? Do you have any special requests as to which special cards should be dealt with next? Feel free to write us something in the comments, we would be happy.
