Yugioh Metal Raiders - The second booster pack ever!

The next 2 cards on this list are monsters that have been played in pretty much every deck for many years, and have changed the meta a lot over time. Even today you rarely see at least one of the two, in one or the other deck in use!

Witch of the Black Forest & Sangan really have an incredible amount of play in Yu-gi-oh! seen. With both, you had the opportunity to take certain monsters from the deck into your hand relatively quickly. At the same time, they were also very suitable as protection. Also, you could use both monsters very well in combination with cards that had to offer a monster as a tribute or similar. Later, they were also very popular to play in combination with the Monarchs, and could also summon them with the mystical tomato from the deck, a monster that was not released until the next main set. However, these 2 "seekers" only really became a problem when the all-changing set "Invasion of Chaos" was released. After a while, the witch banned, and Sangan was limited to 1. In the meantime, both cards have received a so-called "Errata", which has weakened their effects, and thus both cards are allowed 3 times again. Even if they are hardly played or not played at all, you can see Sangan here and there in action, even if it is very rare!

Overflow (Ultra Rare), Mirror Power (Ultra Rare), and Heavy Storm (Super Rare) are 3 other really incredibly strong cards that have also been a must have for every deck. These 3 cards are/were already powerful, but especially if you compare them with the cards you had available up to that point, they were just way too strong, and therefore indispensable. It didn't take long for Konami to limit/ban these cards. All 3 cards were pretty much limited to 1. At some point, both defectors and severe storms were banned. While mirror power is now allowed again 3 times, and is hardly played, heavy storm is still prohibited today! Defectors were also not allowed until recently, but still managed to make their comeback in 2022, and is now limited to 1.

With the Thunder Dragon you could already generate a good card advantage at that time. It was thrown off by its own effect, and 2 more copies were taken from the deck to the hand. If you then had "Elegant Benefactor", you could draw 3 cards with it, and discard the remaining 2 Thunder Dragons, which was very effective. Along with the Thunder Dragon, the fusion monster "Double-Headed Thunder Dragon" was also released in MRD. So if you had a Thunder Dragon + the Fusion Spell card "Polymerization" in your hand, you could directly summon the double-headed Thunder Dragon from the Fusion Deck. However, the Thunder Dragon was only actively played when (who would have thought it) the all-changing set "Invasion of Chaos" was released. Because in addition to the combination with "Elegant Benefactor", you could use the dragon very effectively in combination with the Chaos Monsters.

However, the fact is that today, in 2023, the Thunder Dragon can even be played in meta-enabled decks! In addition, many other Thunder Dragons have been released over time. Who would have thought that at the time?

Now let's move on to the last meta card of the set! A card that has also been played in pretty much every deck for several years.

The fact that you could use this monster to recycle any spell card from the graveyard was just too violent. Considering how many incredibly powerful spell cards already existed at the time, such as Pot of Greed, Elegant Benefactor, Heavy Storm, Raigeki and so on. You can't even list them all. In addition, more and more strong spell cards were released with further sets. Mage of Faith was really welcome in every deck, and no less than three times!

Today you really don't see this map anymore, because flip monsters are generally too slow for the Meta Game. Who knows if that will change one day!
