How to spot fake Pokémon cards?

All Pokemon collectors need to know how to spot fake Pokemon cards. Unfortunately, due to the incredible popularity of the Pokemon franchise, there are now an unbelievable number of counterfeit Pokemon cards in circulation. In this article, we would like to briefly show you what fake Pokemon cards are and how you can recognize them, so that you don't fall for cheap fake cards

Fake cards are often found on the internet under designations such as "Proxy/-or Decorative cards. These cards are mostly produced in China by a third-party provider illegally manufactured and are non-original licensed. Most of the time, the cards are printed in English and usually differ significantly in appearance from official Pokemon cards.

There are the wide variety of versions of fake Pokemon cards and here we show you, how you these at first glance recognize can.

First, let's take a look at the word "Pokémon". On the right card missing the striking Accent with the word, and this error would never occur in an official product.

The energy symbol is shown correctly and properly centered on the left, but not on the right side. Even small details like these often provide clues to fake cards.

Counterfeits are usually sold on so-called High-gloss cards printed. This results in lose the usual Haptics from real cards and are therefore quite easy to recognize.

Comparing the example cards mentioned above, it is noticeable that both differ significantly in their Color intensity distinguish, a unique identifier for counterfeits.

The Font is on both counterfeit cards different and both fonts do not officially exist.

The Text on the left map refers to on a other, than the one pictured, Pokemon and such details provide insight into the question of whether card XY might be a counterfeit card or not.

Please note the stage of development, as Hitmonchan is actually a Basic Pokemon and does not evolve from the Pokemon Togepi. Often in case of counterfeits only the Images replaced, not but a whole Card layout.

The shown Symbol states that the Pokemon from the 2nd. generations, but which not can be correct, as it is officially only Pokemon with 1st Edition Stamps as well as unlimited versions existed. Clearly a fake Pokemon card.
